What's MedCycle?
MedCycle is an application that acts as your very own virtual pill box. MedCycle will remind you to take your medication and keep track of how much you have left.
When you're running low, or running out MedCycle will remind you, so you never have to call your doctor for a last minute perscription.
We understand however that not all medication is used for many reasons. When you return your medication to a pharmacy in most cases it will be destroyed - a waste of money and of an often usable resource.
MedCycle aims to make sure unused medication is redistributed to those who need it rather than destroyed.
1. Create your Pill box
Use your smartphones camera to scan your perscription labels or manually enter your medication information. MedCycle will analyse your Pill Box stock and work with you to create a notification cycle to suit!
2. Reminders
SMS, notifications or both! MedCycle will remind you to take your medication and then ask you if you've actually took them.
When your perscription is comming to an end or your Pill Box is getting empty, MedCycle will let you know.
3. Waste Management
If you've got medication left over MedCycle will let you know what you can do with it.
If your medication is needed elsewhere, MedCycle will give you the option to recycle it via a local pharmacy or free-post envelope.
What if it's not my medication?
I'm a carer:
In Care Mode MedCycle can be used to remind solely you, solely the individual you care for, or both of you when medication needs to be taken. The individual the medication is for doesn't have to have a smartphone, MedCycle can send simple text or telephone call reminders to the individual, and then notify you of their actions.
I'm an organisation:
When in Pharmacist Mode MedCycle can be used by organisations. For example a care home or pharmacy. You can use MedCycle solely for the entry of unused and donated medications, MedCycle will let you know which medication it can repurpose.
How do reminders work?
We understand that it can be easy to ignore your phone. That's why MedCycle offers three notification styles.
App Notifications will behave inline with all other notifications on your smartphone.
SMS notifications will send you a text at the time you need to take your medication,
to confirm you've took your medication you simply text back 'Y' (yes) or 'N' (no), as instructed
by the text message.
Telephone Notifications, a phonecall to a mobile or landline device that can be responded to
via voice, or numbers on the keypad with TextPhone compatibility for the hearing impaired.
